[UT Dallas Esports] Graduating Esports Student-Athletes Spring 2020

I’ve been involved with the League team even before the team became official on UTD. I competed in CLOL and was part of CSL ever since 2016. Once the program became official I was reluctant in joining just because of how competitive the environment was even when it was unofficial; however, the esports team allowed me to push myself to exponentially grow as a player. I learned how to work in a team even when we had disagreements and how to compromise on other things. Seeing the department grow these past two years has been something fantastic and seeing every individual grow not only in-game but professionally too has been an honor. I’ve had a fantastic time playing for the League A team.

“I’ve always loved playing competitive video games. The esports program has allowed me to do what I love and represent my university in the process. Only a select few get to experience that and I feel extremely honored to be apart of such a great program. I wish UTD Esports the best in their future competitions.”

“UTD Esports was the entire gateway for me to find myself, success, friends in esports, and a career in esports. Being one of the first individuals to kickstart this program is truly something I’ll cherish for the rest of my life. I’m extremely proud to be a Comet, but being an UTD esports alumni has a sweeter ring to it! I’ve made friendships that will last a lifetime, and was given an opportunity to build a career out of my passion. Cheers, UTD.”

“I met a lot of new people and made a lot of friends thanks to the Esports Program. It made my time at UTD more enjoyable.”

“The esports program helped me transition and use the thousands of hours I’d played Rocket League competitively to good use. Once junior and senior year came around I had to drop the grind seriously to be a competitive player, but instead I had the opportunity to use the hours I had and learn more about the game in another way. Starting Rocket League Club with a friend at UTD was a great outlet in my junior year which helped me stay involved with Rocket League and continue to stay involved once UTD esports picked up Rocket League all while being able to maintain my academics.”

“I really enjoyed this program because it allowed to me continue my passion and drive to get better at one of my favorite games and it allowed me to travel to so many different places that I’ve never been.”
