Weโ€™re proud to announce our Graduating Comets Esports Student-Athletes & Student-Staff for the Spring 2020 Semester: Erick Quintanilla,

Erick Quintanilla “Sharpe”

๐ŸŽ“ Erick “Sharpe” Quintanilla graduated from The University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelors in Information Technology & Systems and Bachelors in Marketing from the Naveen Jindal School of Management. Erick played as a student-athlete on our League of Legends Team, position mid-laner, and served as the A-Team captain his second year. ๐ŸŽฎ Fun fact: Erick can sing and play the ukulele.

I’ve been involved with the League team even before the team became official on UTD. I competed in CLOL and was part of CSL ever since 2016. Once the program became official I was reluctant in joining just because of how competitive the environment was even when it was unofficial; however, the esports team allowed me to push myself to exponentially grow as a player. I learned how to work in a team even when we had disagreements and how to compromise on other things. Seeing the department grow these past two years has been something fantastic and seeing every individual grow not only in-game but professionally too has been an honor. Iโ€™ve had a fantastic time playing for the League A team.

Erick’s plans after UT Dallas is being an IT Enterprise Infrastructure Analyst at Citi Bank.

Thanks Erick for being a part of our legacy at UTD and we wish you best whooshes in the future! ๐Ÿงกโ˜„๏ธ

“I’ve always loved playing competitive video games. The esports program has allowed me to do what I love and represent my university in the process. Only a select few get to experience that and I feel extremely honored to be apart of such a great program. I wish UTD Esports the best in their future competitions.”

Jackson’s plans after UT Dallas are serving as a CTO of Coach & Crew Inc. – a startup he did freelancing work for which later offered him a full-time position in California after his contract ends. Jackson plans to attend grad school in the future as well.
